African American Education
This collection contains documents and photographs related to African American education in North Carolina before 1950 drawn from the collections of the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum and the State Archives of North Carolina. Currently the digital collection includes selected photographs and other materials from the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum, a Historic Site within the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. These materials were provided for research and educational purposes; prior permission from the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum is required for any commercial use. Yearbooks from the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum are available online from the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center. This digital collection also contains materials from Division of Negro Education of the Department of Public Instruction record group in the custody of the State Archives of North Carolina.
