Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA)
This collection contains exhibition catalogs in traditional and non-traditional formats published by the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA), which was founded in 1956 as a non-profit visual arts organization. Now a part of the NC Department of Cultural Resources, SECCA has presented works by regional and nationally-known artists. The artworks depicted in the catalogs in this collection span not only a wide range of media (paper, photography, pottery, architecture, and textiles, among others), but also explore topics such as architecture and the use of space, technology and its role in art, nature as metaphor, nature and religious belief, environmental issues, philanthropy, war, civil rights, the effects of poverty, and other social conditions.
